Σύμφωνα με τις ισχύουσες νομοθετικές διατάξεις οι ιδιοκτήτες οικοπέδων οφείλουν να φροντίζουν για την αποψίλωσή τους. Για πρώτη φορά φέτος ο Δήμος Κηφισιάς βρέθηκε στη δυσάρεστη θέση επιβολής προστίμου ύψους 300 ευρώ σε ιδιοκτήτες που αμέλησαν το συγκεκριμένο καθήκον.
Τον Απρίλιο η Διεύθυνση Καθαριότητας του Δήμου έστειλε 1700 ενημερωτικές επιστολές σχετικά με την υποχρέωση καθαρισμού των ιδιωτικών οικοπέδων από τους ιδιοκτήτες τους. Μεγάλο ποσοστό προχώρησε στην απομάκρυνση ξερών χόρτων και εύφλεκτων υλικών από τα οικόπεδά τους.
Καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια του καλοκαιριού και μέχρι σήμερα συνεχίζεται η χρονοβόρα και ιδιαίτερα δύσκολη προσπάθεια εντοπισμού ιδιοκτητών που διαμένουν στο εξωτερικό ή περιπτώσεων στις οποίες έχει αλλάξει πρόσφατα ο ιδιοκτήτης. Οι ιδιοκτήτες που εντοπίζονται ενημερώνονται για τις υποχρεώσεις τους. Επιβάλλεται το προβλεπόμενο πρόστιμο σε αυτούς που δεν συμμορφώνονται.
